Registered Agent Cost by State › State fees vs agent fees
State fees and agent fees are different bills
Your registered agent charges for the service. The state charges for filings. Mainstay Filing’s $149 is the first kind. State fees are passed through at cost and shown before you pay.
You pay the state
- The change-of-agent filing, from nothing to $100.
- The annual or biennial report: 6 states have none for LLCs, 7 are every two years.
- Any publication or tax the state requires, listed on the state page when we have verified it.
You pay your agent
- The yearly service price, which can change at renewal.
- On an agent-only plan, nothing for the annual report. A registered agent alone, for a company that is already formed, is $149 a year. That plan does not include the annual report.
A letter offering to file your annual report for a fee is a separate service from your agent’s. The state’s own fee is on its website, and on the state page here.
